There is another small altar in the John Port Chapel, usually used in weekday services when the congregation is smaller. Here people can feel closer together.

On the altar is a cross, reminding us that Jesus was arrested, tried and condemned to death on the cross. This is an empty cross signifying that Jesus rose from the dead.

At the altar we are reminded of both the Last Supper and the Resurrection.

The Crucifix behind the John Port Altar shows Jesus on the cross, indicating the suffering and torment he endured for our sakes.

The majority of other crosses within the Church are empty representing the Resurrection as remembered on Easter Day.
