Etwall Parish Council Grants

Would your charity or organisation benefit from a monetary grant to assist with a project, event or request for support?

All Parish Councils have devolved powers, often referred to as “The Free Resource”. Under these powers the Parish Council can allocate money to assist local charities and organisations. ‘Section 137’ refers to the Legal Act of Parliament, allowing Councils to include the expenditure within their budget.

As stated in the guidelines:
“A Council may spend up to a prescribed limit for any purpose which, in its opinion is in the interests of or will directly benefit the area or its inhabitants, or of part of it, or of some of them”.

This budget is subject to a financial limit determined by the Government, based on population. Etwall usually sets a budget figure of 1-2% of this limit, starting the year on April 1st.

The Parish Council aims to offer support to local charities and organisations who often struggle financially. This has become particularly pertinent during the cost-of-living crisis.

To apply for assistance, please provide details about the activities your charity or organisation undertakes, including, where possible, information on how the funds will be used. This will help us assess whether your request meets our criteria.

Please note that while we aim to help as many as possible, the Parish Council’s funds are limited. We encourage you to submit your application early within the financial year which starts in April.

To apply for a grant, it is best to state your case at one of the monthly Parish Council meetings. Usually, the first Monday of every month at 7:30pm, Frank Wickham Hall.

You can contact our Clerk, Rachel for more details on meeting dates or the application process by emailing etwallparishcouncil@gmail.com
