Pride of Etwall Awards 2025 โ€“ Nominations Now Open

Published 4 November 2025

Etwall Parish Council is delighted to invite nominations for the Pride of Etwall Awards 2025.
These awards were introduced to recognise and celebrate individuals who make a positive contribution to life in Etwall โ€” those who help create a strong, welcoming, and vibrant community.

Everyone is welcome to make a nomination, and you may nominate more than one person if you wish (though only one nomination per nominee per person). Nominees do not need to live in Etwall, but their contribution must benefit our community in some way.

๐Ÿ“… Closing date for nominations: 31st December 2025
๐Ÿ“ฉ Send nominations to: etwallparishcouncil@gmail.com

All nominations will be considered at the January Parish Council meeting, with awards presented at the Annual Parish Meeting in March 2026.

For full award guidelines, please see Pride of Etwall Award Guidelines (PDF)

Letโ€™s take a moment to thank and celebrate the people who make Etwall proud. ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿšธ School Parking Complaints โ€“ Know Who to Contact

Published 6 October 2025

With the new school year well underway, the Parish Council has been informed by our local Safer Neighbourhood Team that complaints around unsafe or inconsiderate school parking are again on the rise.

To help tackle this issue, South Derbyshire District Council (SDDC) has produced a new school parking awareness leaflet, which has now been distributed to all schools across the district. See below link.

SwadStyle – October 2025 P00 – Parking Safely Around Our Schools

๐Ÿš“ Who Enforces What?

Over recent years, many parking offences have been decriminalised and are now enforced by Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs) from Derbyshire County Council, rather than the police. However, this change is not widely known โ€” meaning some complaints are still being directed to the wrong authority.

To help clarify, here’s a summary of who handles what:

๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ Civil Enforcement Officers (County Council)

Responsible for enforcing:

  • Yellow lines (single and double)

  • School โ€œKeep Clearโ€ markings

  • Residentsโ€™ parking zones

  • Blue Badge bays

  • Limited waiting bays

  • Loading bays

  • Bus stops and taxi bays

  • Dropped kerb access

  • Double-parking

  • Pedestrian crossings

  • On-street pay & display

  • Designated car parks

To report to Derbyshire County Council:
๐Ÿ“ง Email: contact.centre@derbyshire.gov.uk
๐Ÿ“ž Call: 01629 533190

๐Ÿš” Derbyshire Police

Responsible for enforcing:

  • Dangerous or obstructive parking (e.g. on bends or junctions)

  • Pavement obstruction where no restrictions exist

  • Access Only orders

  • Double white lines

  • One-way streets

  • Box junctions

  • White-hatched areas

  • Dropped kerbs, double parking, and pedestrian crossings (shared with CEOs)

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ What You Can Do

If you witness unsafe or inconsiderate parking, particularly around local schools, please report it directly to the appropriate authority listed above. This ensures the issue reaches those with the power to take action.

Together, we can help keep our village streets โ€” and our children โ€” safe.

๐Ÿ“ฉ For more information or assistance, please contact the Parish Clerk.
